I never actually played Metroid 2 on Gameboy. Never played it emulated either. I have no nostalgia for this game. I did play Samus Returns when it came out right at the end of the 3DS life, and it was good . . . but maybe a little too modern.

For 2D Metroid games, Fusion and Zero Mission are my jam. And AM2R is basically Metroid 2 but with something that approximates the Fusion / Zero Mission engine and modernizations.

I got a couple hours in before bouncing off to play other stuff. Because it’s November and every game in existence is coming out. And new consoles. Amazing technical achievement, though. Definitely come back to it eventually.
