What a wonderful game.

Sure, it had some awful optimization problems, and some bizarre bugs (no audio), but it was great. Just spoopy enough for my tastes. I didn’t 100% it, and haven’t touched the DLC, but I did a good number of side quests and finished the game in about 2 weeks of playing through it. It was everything I expected from a Remedy game: incredible setting and worldbuilding effort, a decent story, and unique gameplay.

A couple puzzles were unnecessarily obtuse, and some of the missions were difficult to the level of absurdity, but then they’d have setpieces like The Ashtray Maze, which ranks pretty high as one of the best combat / action sequences in any game I’ve ever played.

I’m not done, though. I’ll be going back to finish the DLC and do some clean-up now. My work is not done.
