Control - AWE (DLC)
AWE is the second (and probably last) DLC of Control. Foundation was more balanced, like a whole extra floor of the game with new skills, new puzzles, new guns, blah blah blah. AWE . . wasn’t.
AWE was like a . . preview of a future Alan Wake game, but in another game. It’s aping Alan Wake Stuff, but somehow doing a worse job of it. Alan Wake was good, but its whole gimmick was “you use a flashlight to literally burn away the darkness”. Instead of just giving Jessie a flashlight they make you telekinesis drag lights all over the goddamn place, or telekinesis up a power source to turn a light on. It was a whole lot of holding down right bumper and almost certainly contributed to my Elite controller’s bumper failing.
It was shorter than Foundation, had no new skills, had a new (bad) gun, and was really only about doing 3 new puzzle-fights. The first two puzzle-fights were good. The third one was thematically understandable and fitting, but it was needlessly unfairly difficult. I gave up and flipped on one-hit-kills just to make it end.
Unique mods were neat, though!
