Foundation was Control’s first story DLC. It had everything you’d hope for from a DLC: new location, new missions, new puzzles, new lore, new secrets, new enemy types, new abilities, new mods, new optional bosses and quests. It’s basically a whole new department, with complexity on par with all other departments of the game, just fully self-contained.

It took me a couple play sessions to get through over the course of a week. There’s still some stuff left on the table (various secret locations, two puzzles, one collect-a-thon, and two secret bosses), but I doubt I’m going to go back to it.

The bosses are the least fun enemy types in the game, and one takes a long ass time to even get to. Secret locations are unfortunately the most tedious part of the game, since – as an intentional design choice – so much of the game looks effectively identical. Rolling on to the AWE DLC next.
