I spend the vast majority of my game playing time playing Destiny. It’s been this way since release. It’s my default game. Accordingly, I’m going to try to remember to write up some kind of entry on a seasonal basis.

So this is Season 12, the start of Year 4. Things are . . weird. Whole mess of stuff has been vaulted and content removal sucks. But it was a lot of content nobody actually played. A whole mess of guns were also made irrelevant, and nowhere near enough new things were put back in. Whole archetypes are just gone, we’re down to like two non-sunset HMGs. It’s real bad.

Europa is a fun zone. A couple guns are pretty great. The raid is exceptional. Some of the new exotics are absolutely ridiculous. The new lore expansions are outstanding, some of the best lore in years.

The seasonal event this season sorta sucks, though. We’re two weeks in and I’m still grinding hard . . but I’m approaching the pinnacle cap. The raid is on farm mode. Hell, the raid’s been on farm mode since like our second run. The year-long upgrade grind is basically over, and I’m nearly done with the seasonal grind for titles. It feels like a big big net loss of content. But the stuff that there is to do is still enjoyable.

There’s still a bit to go for the season, but I’m just not sure it’s going to hold me for all that much longer. Then it’ll be time for the next season.

I’m moderately worried about next season economy-wise. This season seems designed to drain all planetary and upgrade mats, with no or minimal ways to replenish them. I have a feeling I’m going to end this season with nearly empty mat reserves, which is going to make next season rough. But we’ll see.
