Destiny 2 - Season of the Splicer (S14)
Season 14 was pretty good. I think it was overall better than 13, the event was better, the plot was better, but the bugs were less interesting. On the Artifact, champ mods were worse (very primary heavy, no sniper), but other mods were better (breach & clear and energy accelerant were both great).
Vault of Glass . . . ugh. We did the day 1 raid, and it was the dick-slamming-est content I’ve ever experienced in Destiny. We spent like 6 hours in there first day and managed to get through two encounters. It was real bad. Then we went back the second day to spend another 4 hours getting our first clear. The changes are enough to be interesting but not so changed that it feels like a different raid. Confluxes, Oracles, and Templar changes were fine. Gatekeeper changes sorta suck, but aren’t terrible. The Atheon changes, though . . I’m not sure I like it. Leaving Atheon unchanged would have been a boring encounter. The changes and requirements for info-sharing callouts aren’t great, though. I got my Mythoclast in about 4 runs, and got a decent selection of guns in the runs I’ve done.
Master VoG has been another slog, especially with the challenges. We’ve done Atheon, Confluxes and Oracle master challenges so far. Atheon was like 9+ hours over several days. Oof. Confluxes was 5 or 6 hours over several days. Oracles was less than an hour. I expect Templar will be a no-brainer. Then it’s just class gimmick cleanup for the rest of the Seal triumphs.
Weapons this season were good, though! Amazing new AR, Fatebringer is great as expected, pretty good new sidearm and GL too. New perks have also been pretty legit.
All told, pretty good. Will S15 be good? Idk but I’ll be playing it because I have poor self control. How broken will Cross play be? Probably pretty broken, as they’re screwing with everybody’s names and aren’t going to have voice chat at launch!
