Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour
It’s fine but it should have been a pack-in. Yep. That’s it. That’s the review. Pack it up.
…
Ok but there are a couple really goofy things about this game I have to talk about.
-
Having attended more than a couple Nintendo Expo Events – including one that introduced a bizarre new console to a completely unprepared world at E3 2006 – this thing makes me miss Nintendo Expo Events. This game perfectly represents what kind of an actual real-world expo Nintendo would build, given an unlimited budget to blow on it, and that sorta rules.

Shockingly, basically all the tech demos and mini-games sorta suck. Nintendo typically makes really good tech demos, and all of the ones on display here are just not that amazing. Like, the original HD Rumble “count the number of ice cubes jiggling around in the JoyCon” demo was more compelling than basically everything in here. Like, one of the demos makes you play “Guess The Framerate”, since the Switch 2 is finally capable of reliably displaying framerates greater than 30. C’mon, Nintendo.

The fact that this has a price-tag at all is insane, but what really pushes this over the edge of being ludicrous is that you cannot play this whole game for $10. There is at least one minigame you physically cannot play without also buying a Nintendo Switch™ 2 Pro Controller ($84.99) or Joy-Con™ 2 Charging Grip ($39.99), and another one you cannot play without buying a Nintendo Switch™ 2 Camera ($54.99) or some other USB-C Camera ($20-40). Thankfully, at least none of the tech demos or mini-games from the Joy-Con™ 2 Wheel zone require you to have bought a literal $24.99 piece of plastic.
Please don’t buy this game. Don’t do it. Don’t. No.
